Thoughts on FTL travel

(Cronan Thompson)

FIRST OFFICER'S LOG

In order to accelerate something to or beyond
the speed of light would require an infinite amount of
energy. To get this infinite energy one must convert an
infinite amount of mass(or the entire universe) to
energy. This not only destroys where you leaving but
wherever it was that you were going that was so all
fired important in the first place.
All intelligent life in the universe came to
this realization long ago. Which is why they have all
given up, settled down and formed stable civilizations
where getting away from others quickly wasn't so
overriding a concern.
        Any holes in my theory?

Lo', though we walk through the valley of the shadow of
death we shall fear no evil, for we are the baddest
motherfuckers in the whole goddamn valley !
